After hosting dozens of cozy online “Queer Care Sessions”, Garden of Queerdom is bringing a special real life edition to Queer Rotterdam for the community to come and care together.
What to expect During the Queer Care Session we spend time collectively caring for ourselves, while we sit in community with each other. We start and end the session with a short check-in and check-out led by our host Toyah (from Garden of Queerdom). From there on out you can work on your own care activity in a way that feels most comfortable to you; in silence by yourself surrounded by your community, chatting with your neighbor or by working on something together. This session is meant as a safe(r) container where we can practice being/caring in community, without the pressure of having to be social or attending a specific workshop.
How to prepare Find something that makes you feel cozy & cared for, it could be anything; read a book, make art, write, paint your nails, knit and chill or do nothing at all and just be with your community during the session. If you have an idea of what you would like to do, you can bring your own materials. There will also be different crafting materials present at the space for you to work with. This session is totally up to you to fill. It can be a nice moment to reflect on how your body & mind are feeling lately, and see what act of care you could give yourself in return. A small note Sometimes the idea of having to be “productive” even creeps into our care rituals - but let this session remind you that you are always deserving of rest & care. There is no “right” way to go about it; It doesn’t have to look cute or be original. As long as it feels good to you, it is the right way.
